UPDATES TO PAP PROGRAM ENSURE ACCESS FOR 40K PATIENTS

How a large manufacturer methodically assessed and optimized a free goods program to avoid access disruptions.

SITUATION

A pharmaceutical manufacturer’s patient assistance program announced enhancements to help ensure that the program could continue to meet the needs of participants and deliver on its mission to provide free medicine in the future.

The enhancements and program changes included offering multiple delivery options (mail order and retail pharmacy pick-up) and making changes to the pharmacy payment model.

Archbow led stakeholders through a multi-session workshop to align on the current patient journey, visualize the enhanced patient journey, and identify change management plans. This included developing a communication plan for all stakeholders.

Archbow created the program design documentation and facilitated stakeholder approvals. To support the implementation, Archbow developed and maintained project
plan to track progress across phases and milestones.

Archbow tracked status updates through participation in vendor project meetings and weekly status meetings with manufacturer.

Throughout the project there were multiple times where the project team was required to pivot on scope and implementation plans.

APPROACH

RESULTS

The patient assistance program implemented the recommended enhancements and changes, ensuring that 40,000 patients would continue to be able to access their prescribed medication for free.
